Terps Youth Sports Policies

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM 2024

The Olney Terps will offer scholarships to families that qualify for the MCPS Free/Reduced Lunch program or equivalent in private schools. The Olney Terps requires that a copy of the yearly approval letter be provided to the Terps Youth Sports office annually. These approval letters are typically sent out in late August to families and are current for the upcoming school year. For Terps Youth Sports, that approval will be accepted for the fall and winter seasons of one calendar year and the spring season the following calendar year (one school year).

This scholarship will require a once per season payment per family. Children are limited to one sport per season, but they may participate in any or all of our three seasons (spring, fall, winter). The reduced fee cost is $75. There are no scholarships available for Travel sports or camps. Scholarships will be approved by the Board of Directors, and approval means having a current MCPS Form 240-31 (or equivalent) and payment of the seasonal fee.

FOR THE 2024 SEASON, WE WILL ACCEPT YOUR 2023 MCPS FORM 240-31

REFUND POLICY

Families will get a full refund if refund is requested prior to registration closing. Also a refund can be requested for other extenuating circumstances and must be requested to admin@Olneyterps.com. Refunds for those who cancel after games have begun will be determined by the Administration.

Terps Youth Sports Organization Concussion Policy

Terps Youth Sports Organization takes concussions and concussion awareness extremely seriously. If a player has a suspected concussion,Terps Youth Sports Organization policy requires the player be immediately removed from play and seek medical attention. Players are prohibited from returning for practice or games until they have a note from their doctor permitting them to play. A concussion is caused by a blow to the head or body that causes the brain to make rapid movements inside the skull.

To recognize a concussion, watch for two things:

1. A forceful blow to the head or body that causes rapid movement of the head; and

2. Any change in the athlete’s behavior, thinking or physical functioning.
